Many science fiction movies and books depict robots becoming friends for the lonely and the antisocial. It seems like we’re on that track and Amazon’s Echo device is one of the forefront virtual friends.

Daily Caring explains in an article that Echo can be there when caregivers cannot. Those who suffer from dementia are often distraught and ask the same questions repeatedly or become upset when caregivers have to leave their side. Echo can solve that problem without frustrations. The machine is connected to Wi-Fi and as a result, the Internet is at their beck and call. They don’t need to push a button either to talk; they only need to call out Echo’s name. They can learn about weather, news, events, and more by just asking.
