Happenings at Grand Villa of DeLand

Grand Villa residents lead an active and engaged lifestyle with a full calendar of social and recreational activities. Our full-time Activities Coordinator plans parties, exercise classes, events, and excursions to keep our residents physically, mentally, and socially engaged. Everyone is invited to participate according to his or her own preferences.

Our community offers so many opportunities for fun, you're sure to find something that appeals to you each day. Some of the most popular activities include exercise classes, watching the latest blockbuster movies at our on-site theater, and listening to live musical performances.

Daily meals in our restaurant-style dining room are an event in themselves. Residents enjoy meeting three times a day over delicious food to socialize and relax with friends.

New Hope Against Dementia and Alzheimer’s

Countless seniors suffer from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease every day. They are the more heart-wrenching diseases to watch an aging loved one suffer from. Now, University College of London may have discovered a new way to detect the disease 15 years before there are any effects.

According to Express, there has been development in a new scanning process that can detect, locate, and measure the proteins that cause Alzheimer’s. These proteins appear years before the actual disease has an impact.

New treatments are being developed on how to handle the proteins. There are new trials for experimental drugs and blood tests are being developed. These new scans can prove to be extremely valuable while stepping toward a cure.
